Staff Spotlight

Migrant & Seasonal Head Start (MSHS)

Migrant & Seasonal Head Start Program provides services to children six weeks to five years of age. This program serves the needs of our migrant and seasonal farmworker families. MSHS services are provided during the spring throughout late fall.

Migrant & Seasonal Early Head Start

Migrant & Seasonal Early Head Start Program prioritizes children six weeks to three years of age. This program also emphasizes serving pregnant mothers.

Region X Head Start (RHS)

Region X Head Start (RHS) serves children three to five years of age. RHS supports children’s growth and development. It promotes school readiness of children from low-income families. Some of our centers offer part day services, while others offer full day services. RHS services are offered during the fall through early summer.

Early Head Start (EHS)

Early Head Start (EHS) serves pregnant mothers and children birth to three years of age. This is the only year-round, home based program at Inspire. All services are carried out through a weekly home visit that supports the home and family as the primary learning environment for the child.

Inclusive Classrooms

Inclusive Classrooms provide a safe, nurturing environment to support healthy development of all children regardless of their abilities ages six weeks to five years. We are committed to providing appropriate early learning and developmental experiences that support full access and participation of every child. Individualization is provided to all children and families using evidence based curriculum and childhood experts.

Home Visiting

Home Visiting provides families with parent coaching. Home visits are designed to strengthen the bond and attachment between parent and child. Our Home Visitors bring age-appropriate information and activities to engage the family. They also provide referrals to ensure access to medical services and resources for meeting basic needs, and help parents identify and accomplish goals leading to self-sufficiency.

Parent Education

Parents are the first and foremost educators of their children. Parents gain leadership skills through different leadership opportunities. We offer parent advisory groups, fatherhood classes, parent meetings and other leadership opportunities. Parents involved in leadership roles such as Policy Council can access additional leadership trainings.

Our History

Inspire Development Centers Mission: To inspire learning, growth and success in life — one child, one family and one community at a time.

In January of 1964 President Lyndon B. Johnson declared The War on Poverty in his State of the Union speech. Shortly after, a panel of experts developed a comprehensive child development program that would help communities meet the needs of disadvantaged preschool children. Head Start programs were designed to help break the cycle of poverty, providing preschool children of low-income families with a comprehensive program to meet their emotional, social, health, nutritional and psychological needs.

Since its inception in 1983, Inspire Development Centers’ focus has been to provide quality early childhood education to low income families in agricultural and rural areas. Passionate parents, community members and a group of driven leaders came together to establish the vision for the agency and, since then, Inspire has grown from seven centers in the Yakima Valley to 25 Head Start centers across Washington State. For over 35 years, Inspire has provided families with quality early childhood education along with a host of many other services ranging from medical, dental to nutrition. We strongly believe that families can succeed through education and opportunity.
